I udstillingen THIS SONG IS ABOUT YOU ændrer Kikauka en stor samling af “vægkunst” for at formidle en række forskellige budskaber og betydninger.

FESTUM FLUXORUM 2026

 EXHIBITION

Laura Kikauka

THIS SONG IS ABOUT YOU

Henning Christiansen Arkiv

Luffes Gård, Stege

OPENING 25th of April 2pm-5pm

Duration of exhibition: 25th April – 29th August 2026

CONCERT

Gordon Monahan and Bill Coleman

SOUND OF MIND AND BODY

44Møen Fanefjordgade 44 Askeby

24th and 25th of April 2026 8pm-9pm

FESTUM FLUXORUM was first held in 1962 at the Nikolaj Church in Copenhagen. Henning Christiansen (1932-2008) was a Danish composer who lived on the island of Møn from 1970 until his death in 2008. As part of the international art movement FLUXUS, he was also one of the organizers of FESTUM FLUXORUM.

In 2026, Henning Christiansen Arkiv will create a new FESTUM FLUXORUM here on Møn with artists who are strongly inspired by FLUXUS. We will open FESTUM FLUXORUM ‘26 with a concert on Friday, April 24th at 8pm and welcome you to the exhibition opening on Saturday 25th April at 2 -5pm. We will close with a concert on Saturday 25th April at 8pm.

The exhibition in the Archive will run until the end of August.

In the upcoming exhibition THIS SONG IS ABOUT YOU Laura Kikauka combines the aesthetics of both intention and accident. In an act of double-appropriation, she alters a large collection of “wall art” purchases (largely from thrift stores or flea markets) by collaging/drawing/painting excerpts from song lyrics into the paintings/wall art, to convey a variety of messages and meanings. The appropriation of “found paintings” and “found lyrics” makes the original artist and lyricist unwitting collaborators with Kikauka, thus creating a three-way collaborative process. The resulting visual works also pose a game for the viewer, who may often recognize the song lyrics but might be puzzled to name the song from which the lyrics are borrowed.

This exhibition will combine excerpts from her ongoing project as well as spontaneous new creations referencing the oeuvre of Henning Christiansen, who was a personal friend.

Laura Kikauka’s body of work over the past forty-five years encompasses various mediums including site specific installation, mixed media, electronic sculpture, drawing, photography, video, performance, music, text and costume creations. Kikauka’s installations establish a highly specific visual (and often audio) language that blends the increasingly overlapping worlds of high and low art forms. In general Laura’s ‘excessive aesthetic’ is comparable to urban archaeology and addresses issues of consumer culture and the question of good and bad taste. It also celebrates failure in a humorous and ironic manner.

SOUND OF MIND AND BODY is a collaboration by Bill Coleman and Gordon Monahan that uses concepts of human-to-computer brainwave interfacing to manipulate and produce real-time music, sound and lighting, integrated with dance, body performance and slapstick. All of the sounds you will hear in this performance are the result of either direct audio amplification of brainwaves, or of instruments manipulated by brainwave-controlled software in real time. Sometimes the brainwaves are heard directly as they are simply transposed into the audible spectrum; at other times, MIDI note patterns generated by waveform fluctuations of brainwave signals are mapped onto a player piano keyboard; or brainwave signals are amplified into small electric motors that play rhythmic patterns, determined by brainwave fluctuations, on a drum and cymbal as the performer transitions through various levels of mental concentration. At certain times, Monahan harnesses Coleman’s brainwaves to control fluctuations of intensity in the stage lights.

The artists will be available for a question-and-answer session following the performance.

Gordon Monahan’s works for piano, loudspeakers, video, kinetic sculpture, and computer-controlled

sound environments span various genres from avant-garde concert music to multi-media installation and sound art. As a composer and sound artist, he juxtaposes the quantitative and qualitative aspects of natural acoustical phenomena with elements of media technology, natural environments, architecture, popular culture, and live performance.

In addition to creating a significant number of sound installations and sound art performances, Monahan also composes concert music for traditional instruments. The renowned composer John Cage once said, “At the piano, Gordon Monahan produces sounds we haven’t heard before.”
