EXHIBITION SYMPHONY NATURA

INVITATION TO A NEW EXHIBITION AT HC ARCHIVE

Symphony Natura Opus 170 from 1985, newly staged in 2025 at Henning Christiansen Archive, Luffes Gård in Stege on Møn.
The exhibition opens on November 15th from 12 PM to 7 PM and runs until April 12th, 2026.

At the opening, Thorbjørn Reuter Christiansen will perform Symphony Natura 2025 with Henning Christiansen’s homemade orchestra.

This Opus is undoubtedly one of the greatest musical and, not least, score drawing breakthroughs by Fluxus composer Henning Christiansen. This work combines animal sounds with score drawings where the composition was performed the for the animals themselves at the Rome Zoo in 1985. The result is an audio-visual space where the animal sounds are incorporated.

The recordings were made at the Rome Zoo in the autumn of 1985. They were then edited and assembled by Henning Christiansen in collaboration with music professor Lorenzo Mammi. The final composition was performed by them at the Zoo in Rome, for the animals and visitors.

In the exhibition, visitors can see and hear 8 scores, posters, photographs, and notes.

A publication including an LP and a booklet describing the Symphony Natura project in its entirety, is scheduled to be released in March 2026.

Thorbjørn Reuter Christiansen will guide visitors through the exhibition and offer to paint their ears green, so they listen to the sounds of nature after their visit.

Rachel Dagnall is responsible for the exhibition’s scenography.

The project has received financial support from Vordingborg Visual Arts Council.
